News from Kellogg

Earlier today, MBAstarter had pointed to me this difference between the number of applicants and the number of alumni interviews in Kellogg's previous application season and thus raised the doubt on whether my theory of "ALL Kellogg applicants are interviewed" holds good or not. When i was trying to figure out possible reasons behind this, i forgot one of the possibilities. There are candidates for whom interviews are waived!!!

Now what reminded me of this??? My Interview Has Been Waived!!!

Yeah - i just got a mail from the Kellogg AdComm that they have made this decision. To quote from the mail:
There has been a significant increase in the number of interview requests this year in your area; therefore we can not accommodate your request without making excessive demands of our alumni interviewers. Due to these circumstances, we are waiving your interview requirement so as not to delay the submission or processing of your application.

So Kellogg is completely out of my hands now. I was so eager to meet a Kellogg product. That's not gonna happen. All i can do now, is to wait till Jan 8th to see what their final decision is.

Also check the Kellogg FAQ page for further info on interview waivers

Kool...I have heard that Kellogg takes a telephonic interview for the candidates, who are waived interview, after their files have been reviewed.

Ya, even I know of a couple of cases where folks were asked to do a tele interview after their app was reviewed. So no worries! :)

Yeah - that's what the FAQ page says. But the interesting part there is that it says Many of our admitted students initially received an interview waiver and were subsequently contacted for a telephone interview.

Anyway - this is not something in my hand. So, i shud teach myself to forget Kellogg for the time being :)

I got the same email as you buddy.
And all I can make out of the "waiver" .. is an "admit waiver" now! :(

@icy:
Don't make out anything from this mail :)
This is from the folks who handle the interview portion.
The entire app is yet to be read and if needed, there will be a telephonic interview.
It is better u forget the Kellogg app till the result or till they get in touch :D

might turn out good.
best of luck

from what i know, no one gets in without an interview. i faced the same situation last year, and was then interviewed telephonically by an adcom. so if your app is worth it (which i think it is), you would get an email later in the year.

must be all good :-)

@forrest gump:

thanks for pitching in though :)

@mbastarter:
Which club is this? That's more confirmation. Thanks :)

good luck with this one my friend.

@anon:
yeah - i saw that.
After reading the application, the AdComm would conduct telephonic interviews with the "possible admits" who had their interviews waived.
so - there is nothing to worry :)

Thanks for ur wishes anyway :)

Hey,
I got a waiver too just a few minutes ago. I applied for Fall 2007. ...( my score is 750(Q50,V41)) My guess is it's a 50/50 chance for me now. ... :(
My sister says it could be a 50/50 .either it means its a strong application and they don ot feel the need to interview or its not worth an interview... :(
Btw, she's a wharton graduate and had gotten in at K way back in 1999.
Whatever.. I feel uneasy. Anyways...all the best to you all.

@anon:
i dont think it works the 50/50 way u've mentioned.
Inviting/Waiving applicants for interview is done before they start reading Part 2. So there is no evaluation behind what's happened.
Also - Kellogg interviews ALL admitted students.

Once they read apps, if they find the candidate to be strong, Kellogg AdComm would schedule a Telephonic interview with him/her, after which they'd take decisions. If you're getting in, it will be only after you've been interviewed :) Hope that explained.

BTW - u seem to have a person to guide you thru this :) That's a great plus.
Don't feel uneasy - jus forget that u applied.

All the best to u too :)
